Things to Do in Punta Mita

Beach clubs, boat trips, golf, surfing and local dining: there's plenty to choose from during a stay in Punta Mita.

Things to Do in Punta Mita

Much of Punta Mita's appeal is outdoors. Leave your days open for the beach, or give them a little structure with surfing, golf, boating and time to explore.

These are the experiences I'd make room for, depending on your pace.

Beach & Ocean

Spend a Day at the Beach Clubs

A swim, some beach time, then lunch is a perfectly respectable plan. Punta Mita's four beach clubs each have their own character, so try more than one.

Access to the beach clubs is a real perk of staying inside the Punta Mita community.

Take a Trip to the Marietas Islands

The Marietas Islands are worth heading offshore for, with snorkelling, wildlife and coastal scenery along the way. Some tours include access to the famous Hidden Beach.

This is one of the area's most popular day trips, with a chance to see more of the coast.

Try Surfing

Punta Mita has surf spots suited to a range of abilities, whether you're booking a first lesson or already feel at home on a board.

Surfing is part of everyday life here, and you'll find plenty of places nearby to try it.

Get Out on the Water

Book a private boat or fishing charter, go sailing, or head out for paddleboarding or snorkelling.

From the water, you get some of the finest views of Punta Mita.

Go Whale Watching

During whale season, a trip out into Banderas Bay offers the chance to spot humpback whales in the wild.

There's something especially memorable about seeing whales in their own habitat.

Golf & Activities

Play a Round of Golf

Golfers have two Jack Nicklaus Signature courses to choose from in Punta Mita: Pacífico and Bahía.

The ocean views and lovely fairways are part of the appeal; having two very different courses makes it a rewarding golf destination.

Walk, Run or Bike the Trails

Follow Punta Mita's recreational trails on foot or by bike.

You'll see more of the community and spend a little extra time outdoors enjoying the weather.

Eat & Unwind

Have Dinner in El Anclote

For dinner out, head into Punta de Mita, where beachfront restaurants serve fresh seafood with views across Banderas Bay.

It's a chance to try a different dinner spot and get a feel for local life.

Plan a Villa Day

Leave a day free of plans. Settle beside your private pool, book a massage, or let a private chef take care of lunch or dinner at the villa.

A quiet day doing very little deserves a place in your Punta Mita stay, too.

Explore Nearby

Visit Sayulita or San Pancho

A short trip up the coast takes you to Sayulita or San Pancho for shops, restaurants, beaches and a taste of surf-town life.

Both towns feel quite different from Punta Mita, and either makes an easy change of scene for the day.
